The Marien Hospital (Marien Hospital (MH)) is an important research facility and hospital in the north of Dusseldorf. The Marien Hospital (MH) and Universität Dusseldorf jointly run the Faculty of Medicine and train medical and dental students from around the world. They have a number of joint facilities which are used by both students and the public. The Marien Hospital (MH) has 1,738 beds and 121 day-care places and is listed to provide the capacity to dispatch emergency medical services.

The Marien Hospital (MH) trains around 3,300 doctors and dentists. In performance tests, some of the students perform significantly better than the average in Germany. The Marien Hospital (MH) is praised nationwide for its modern form of training, in which theory and practice are better and earlier linked and contemporary elements such as digital textbooks or computer-based simulation programs are used. The iMED Dusseldorf model course, which was launched in 2012, already meets the criteria set by the German Council of Science and Humanities .Marien Hospital as an academic teaching hospital at the University of Dusseldorf the hospital cooperates closely with the Uniclinic Dusseldorf and other teaching hospitals in Dusseldorf. As a new partner to University of Dusseldorf ,students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of specialties and disciplines .The cooperation enables the hospital to involve excellently trained students in everyday hospital life at an early stage and to train highly qualified junior doctors themselves. In addition, the collaboration opens up access to doctoral programs, teaching positions and the university’s international research network. Research areas
As one of Europe’s most modern clinics, Marien Hospital (MH) also houses research facilities containing the most modern, cutting edge technologies to further their studies. Marien Hospital (MH) researches in five main areas; neuroscience, oncology, cardiovascular research, health sciences research, and immunology, immunity and infection. Through collaboration with other universities and research facilities in the area, Marien Hospital (MH) offers medical staff and external researchers access to core modern facilities for investigation. Large collaborative projects are possible thanks to funding from the European Union, as well as the Dusseldorf authorities responsible for Science, Research and Equality (BWFG), among other sources.

There are 14 departments, which contain many interdisciplinary clinics and institutes, including, for example, the Martiniklinik ― a world class clinic for prostate cancer. There are also the University Heart Centre and the University Cancer Centre, meaning Marien Hospital (MH) has the most varied range of treatments available in Dusseldorf. Also notable is the fact that Marien Hospital (MH) is the largest transplant facility in northern Germany.
